Live like a local.
Travel like a guest.

Nothing here runs on a schedule. Every ritual at Parbatwaas Retreat is set up personally by the host — a quiet morning by the stream, a bonfire supper on the river stones, a jeep across Sach Pass. Eight to choose from; pick one or pick all.

Riverside Mornings

Where the stream wakes you, not the alarm.

A flask of masala chai in copper, a wool blanket, and a low wooden chair set where the mill-stream bends. We bring fresh buffalo milk and warm Babru from the kitchen. Conversation is optional.

Bonfire Evenings

Cedar logs lit at the last blue hour.

A live barbecue set up on the river stones — Pahadi chicken, valley vegetables, slow-grilled over open flame. Candle lanterns, hand-woven wool, and a sky that turns indigo before black.

Local Food

Wheat from our mill. Vegetables from the village.

Cook a Himachali thali alongside our kitchen — Madra kidney bean, pure black dal, wood-fired roti from flour we milled this morning, and walnut-jaggery cake for after.

Village Walks

Live the life of a local for a morning.

We walk you through Parbatwaas — farmers, the village temple, the slate roofs, the old paths to the Gharat. Sit with a family, share a desi breakfast of ghee and wild honey.

Sunrise on the Deck

The first light, served warm.

A blanketed chair on the wooden deck above the valley, masala chai, and the first orange light catching the snow line. Some guests journal here. Most simply sit.

Stargazing Suppers

A long table, candlelit, under the milky way.

Far from any town light, the night sky here is unfiltered. A long table is set by the river, the chef cooks slow, and we lie back on cushions when the meal is done.

Wellness & Yoga

On the deck, or in the ashram down the road.

A private practice on the wooden deck — guided if you wish, silent if you prefer. For longer stays, we arrange a day at the nearby Art of Living ashram governed by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

Hidden Trails

Paths the maps have not yet learned.

Mossy stone steps through ancient deodar forest, a thin stream beside you for hours. A packed lunch, a return at dusk — and if you're ready, the jeep safari over Sach Pass.

— A Note

"Tell us, the day before, what kind of day you want to remember. We'll cook for it, walk for it, set the fire and the flask. The rest the valley does on its own."
