Wake to woodsmoke and birdsong. The first cup is brought to your room — strong, sweet, cardamom.

Homemade breakfast
Siddu or aloo paratha, fresh curd, local honey. Eaten with the family on the kitchen floor.

Village walk
Slate-roofed lanes, the local temple, an orchard, a weaver's loom. Your host leads, at their pace.

Lunch from the kitchen
Madhra, kaala chana, rice, ghee. Vegetarian, seasonal, never repeated twice in a week.

Free hours
Read on the verandah. Help knead roti. Walk to the stream. Nothing scheduled.

Dinner by the chulha
Dal, sabzi, hand-rolled roti. Conversation in Pahari and broken Hindi. Stories of the mountain.

Bonfire & stars
On clear nights, a fire in the courtyard. The Milky Way overhead. Then a heavy quilt, a wooden bed, deep sleep.
